Puzzles & Principles 2

3 John 2 (NKJV)

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers

Our culture puts our soul last. We think we can find happiness by focusing on all the external stuff. If I could have money I would be happy; if I could have fame I would be happy; if I could have good looks I would be happy…people even go to extremes and think: ‘if my nose were a little smaller I would be happy’ – the list is endless.

The secular culture of the world focuses on external things.

The life of the Christian is different. It’s not that these things don’t matter – they do. But they are not the source of happiness or satisfaction.

Your faith needs to be the source from which the rest flows.

‘Well shouldn’t my family – my wife and children – come first?’ No, God should come first. So to all you men, for example – the best thing you can do for your wife and kids is to be a man of God! Then you will be a better husband and a better father.

Something to think about:

What are some of the principles (good and not so good) operating in your life right now?

What are some principles you would like to build more strongly into your life this year?
